Unfriendly People
I just dont understand why some people are just so damn unfriendly. I really dont care how much debt you have, how bad your job sux, how pissed you are at your spouse, or how bad your back hurts (join the club), just say hello to someone for no reason damn it. How many times do I walk my dog and people walk right by me and stare away, it really pisses me off. Yes, I will say hello first, and some will say hi back, but most just grumble something. OK, so maybe you hate the world, so be it. Go and live under a bridge and become insignificant, but dont bring the rest of us down...please?

You will find that many folks lack the confidence to proactively reach out and as a result will typically take the rude approach and quite possibly unknowingly. Find folks with goals consistent with your own and you have found folks with personalities consistent with your own. Hey, how about the ones that do not say thank you when you hold the door open for them.
I bet you've done it yourself without even realizing it. I bet you've done it more often than you think you have. Maybe their not in a bad mood or mad at the world, maybe their just off in lala land immersed in their thoughts not even fully aware of their surrounding situation. Or maybe they were pissed off and went for a walk to blow off some steam and did not expect or really want to run into someone. Or maybe your just perfect and everyone around you does not know how to act. :)
I hear ya bro.....My biggest pet peeve is when you go through a drive through and the cashier cant take a moment to say "thank you"....argghhh....I typically say "your welcome" anyways. Thanks for lunch....see ya

Being freindly to strangers is something that you should do because it makes you feel good, not because you are trying to illicit some response. If they arent the freindly type to hell with them, you should not them bring you down. If you are going to risk getting pissed off and damning someone to live under a bridge based on their response you should question why you are saying hello in the first place.
Outstanding point Orangie...I will give that some thought.
Just for the record...if someone walks into a 10x10 sized public restroom and does NOT say hello to you, I officially say that is not being rude. In fact, just the opposite. In this type of private setting, actually saying hello IS being rude. And no, I do not have double standards, there's just a few exceptions.
